The faculty started in 2011 with two departments; Computer Science and Basic Sciences. In the Basic Science then, there were Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Physics. Later, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Computer Information Science were added. Hence, the faculty host and organizes conferences with the aim of disseminating its research findings. In 2015, Professor Olumide Longe of the department of computer science gave the first faculty of science lecture on the topic, Cybercrimes, cybersecurity as it pertains to development and national security. Professor Edward Santiago Blase from the university of New York, Sullican country, New York, United States America. The department of computer science alongside the mobile E service held the 7th International Conference on Mobile E service between October 17th and 19th, 2017. Dr. Olajide Joseph Adenola of the centre for Population Health Sciences delivered a lecture during the conference titled, Delivering the Nigeria E health Strategy: A needs Analysis for workforce development and Policy. Professor Sunday Ojo from Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa, delivered a lecture titled, Promoting Indigenous ICT R and I solution for sustainable development in Africa. Professor Justice Emuoyibofarhe delivered a lecture titled, Research: Tool for sustainable Development Innovation and Wealth Creation. The Department of Microbiology, hosted the 3rd zonal South West Nigeria Society for Microbiology Symposium, between 7th and 9th of May, 2019. A 3-day workshop on Bioinformatics for life sciences which was held between November 13-15, 2018. Professor Temitope Oyedepo, delivered a lecture on Effect of Moringa Oleifera on Metabolic Diseases and Aging\u201d in May, 2018. The third Faculty of Science lecture series was delivered in 2019 by Professor Oluwafemi Oguntibeju, a NRF C-rated Researcher from Cape Peninsula University of Technology in South Africa on the topic; My Plants, My Health. Professor Oluboade Oyedapo from Obafemi Awolowo University delivered a Faculty Lecture on the topic, My journey and Exploit in Medicinal Plant Research in November, 2019.Dr. Ayeleso from the department of Biochemistry delivered a lecture titled, Exercise Induced Camkii Regulates Glucose Transport: Potential Role in Type 2 There are a lot of practical works so much so that some courses are offered solely as practicals. In most Universities, it is not the same; practical is just a component of the course work. Here, right from 100 level, beyond the courses that have some fragments of practical, there are courses that are practical oriented. There is no programme in which the students are not drilled on practicals. Every programmes here has a practical component and this is only obtainable in the universities of technology. Though we are not a university of technology, but we operate as a university of technology. This makes our students to have hands on experience and can go to places after graduation.<\/p><p>Beyond that, we have worked our programmes in such a way that our students can go for Students\u2019 Industrial Work Experience. While most universities do Industrial Training for three or four months, our students embark on SIWES for an upward of eight to nine months. This is akin to the experiences of Universities of technology or Polytechnics that uses five years. We have structured ours to come up after the first semester of 300 level, they use the entire second semester including the holiday period to engage in industrial work experience. When they return, they are able to go straight to commence their projects having been armed with the practical knowledge acquired during the IT programme. This industrial work experience helps to expose the students to the real world of life and they are supervised by experts in the production units of these industries. No wonder, when our students are employed after graduation, the report has been that, they had been equipped with the necessary work ethics and professional training. With the three components of theory, laboratory practicals and Industrial training, our products are rare and simply good. Our faculty is unique; we have a selection of young and seasoned lecturers who are high fliers and thorough breed. In this faculty, we do not manage students; if a student cannot cope with the rigors of the faculty, he or she will be asked to drop. That is why even the weakest of our graduates has something unique to offer.<\/p><p>We have yearly Faculty Lectures that attract prominent and world class scientist to deliver lectures on tropical issues. These lecture series are aimed at allowing our faculty and students to have access to world class researchers and interact with them on very tropical issues.<\/p><p>Our Postgraduate programme started in 2017 and we have had exemplary reports from the products of our Postgraduate programme. We do course works even at the Ph.D level to refresh our students at that level. Professor Temitope Oyedepo is the Director of Academic Planning of the University, Dr. Ayeleso Ademola is the Director of Office of Research, Grants and Linkages (ORGL), Dr. Joel Ukaegbu is the Chairman of the Covid-19 protocol committee and Mr. Samuel Babarinde is the acting Director of SIWES. A faculty from this faculty, Dr. Oladipo Kolawole and his team are seriously pursuing the covid-19 vaccine development. The process is at a moderate level and all the parameter analysis done by experts in the United States are highly encouraging.<\/p><p>The Faculty of Science has the finest crop of lecturers. Through the university human development initiative, the faculty has enjoyed the harvest of many Ph.D lecturers. Under the same initiative, Dr. Ajayeoba embarked on a postdoctoral study at the DTU in South Africa. Mr. Bamigbade from the Department of Biochemistry went to Chine for his doctoral studies. Mr. Jimoh from the Department of Physics went to China for his doctoral studies. Dr. Oladipo Kolawole of Microbiology is a regular face at many international conferences and workshops in India, United States, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania amongst others. Miss Kaka and Miss Adeosun (Graduate Assistants) travelled to Italy for a short course in January 2020. Miss Adeosun won Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue her Ph.D at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
