September 2011, with Prof. Hakeem Ibikunle Tijani (a Professor of History) as its pioneer Dean.\u00a0 He held the position for two academic sessions before he was appointed as the first University Deputy Vice-Chancellor in November, 2013.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Replacing him in November 2013 was Prof. Martina Iyabo Oguntoyinbo-Atere, a Professor of Religious Studies, New Testament.\u00a0 Under her headship, the Faculty faced the NUC programme accreditation in January 2015, and to the glory of God, the three departments\/programmes had full accreditation.\u00a0 In the same year, the Faculty also graduated her first set of students from the three programmes.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2016, the then Dean, Prof Martina I. Oguntoyinbo-Atere was appointed the Chief of Staff to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dayo Alao upon this appointment, Dr. Serifat O. Labo-Popoola came on board as the acting Dean. In 2018, she was promoted a full Professor and thereby became the substantive Dean of the Faculty till September 2021, after serving her 2 year term. The Faculty has a faculty journal titled <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ijinle: A Multidisciplinary Journal of the Faculty of Arts<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and have several editions.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We equally have biannual Faculty Guest Lecture Series, where we invite seasoned academics from other universities to give a lecture on a chosen team. Some of the places visited include: Erin-Ijesha Waterfalls, Idanre Hills, Osun-Osogbo Groove, Museum at Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U.), and Agodi Gardens, Ibadan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This general platform of the students\u2019 association is the Faculty of Arts Students\u2019 Association (FASA) and this was formally inaugurated in July of 2018. Every student is an automatic member. The first President was Adaramati, Shogo from the Department of History and International studies and we have had five Presidents till date. Other Presidents include Wisdom Omoloyegbe of Department of Languages and Literary Studies (two terms), Samuel Olorunfemi (Religious Studies). The current President is Richard Kadiri, Department of History and International Studies.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are also departmental associations in the three Departments namely, National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies (NASELS), National Association of Religious Studies Students (NARSS) and History and International Studies Students Association (HISSA). Requirements:<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b8b7d3b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b8b7d3b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Admission into any programme in the Faculty of Arts is through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or by inter-university transfer based on the following minimum qualifications:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>UTME<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To gain admission into the 100 level, a candidate shall possess the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) or the National Examination Council (NECO) or its equivalent with credit passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics with not more than TWO sittings. In addition, the candidate shall have an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). However, the prospective students are required to take a post-UTME Screening exercise or test that will be conducted by the University before a final decision could be made about their suitability for admission into the degree programme.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Direct Entry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A candidate seeking admission into the 200 Level by direct entry shall possess minimum of two General Certificate of Education Advanced (GCE \u2018A\u2019) Level passes or equivalent in the relevant subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or its equivalent.
