Most of the victims are young people. University students and young professionals have been recorded to have taken their own lives. In addition, cases of drug abuse and depression are also taking frightening dimensions of public health concerns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4140\" src=\"http:\/\/adelekeuniversity.edu.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dep1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"451\">The Spiritual Life and Chaplaincy Division of Adeleke University in recognition of the importance and multifaceted impact on the family and the larger community organized a campaign against the sad development. The <a href=\"https:\/\/kalebet638.com\/\" title=\"Kalebet Giri\u015f\">Kalebet Giri\u015f<\/a><br \/>\n program was designed to raise awareness about the scourge and empower the community in preventing such occurrences. The program was also organized to address the issues of stigmatization of those going through depression.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4146\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4146\" style=\"width: 566px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4146\" src=\"http:\/\/adelekeuniversity.edu.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dep7.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"425\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4146\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">From L -R: Dr. Joel Ukaegbwu the convener of the Anti depression and anti-suicide program, Pastor Eleazar Ufomba, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Pastor Olugbenga Efuntade, VP, Spiritual Life, and University Pastor, Dr. Oyewole Adeoye, a Consultant Psychiatrist at LAUTECH and Guest Speaker, Mrs. Abigail Omijeh, the Senior Work personnel and member of the planning committee and Mrs. Esther Emurotu, member of the Planning Committee.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The campaign started with a rally round the campus community with shouts of the slogan &#8220;No to depression, yes to life. No to suicide, yes to life&#8221; filling the air. Participants, students, and staff members carried placards with relevant messages addressing the issues.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kalebet638.com\/\" title=\"Kalebet\">Kalebet<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4145\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4145\" style=\"width: 594px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4145\" src=\"http:\/\/adelekeuniversity.edu.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dep6.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"594\" height=\"446\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4145\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Participants at the First Aid\/Responders Training Session in a group photograph with the Trainer, Dr. Oyewole Adeoye, after the training.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A series of panels of discussion on depression, drug abuse, and suicide took place where both staff and students discussed events that can lead to depression, drug abuse, and suicide. They also gave their ideas on how to prevent and overcome these negative experiences. Bridging the perception gap and building trust to enable those going through these experiences reach out for and receive necessary help was a major focus of the discussion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The guest speaker, Dr. Oyewole Adeoye, a Christian consultant Psychiatrist at the Ladoke <a href=\"https:\/\/kalebet638.com\/\" title=\"Kalebet G\u00fcncel Giri\u015f\">Kalebet G\u00fcncel Giri\u015f<\/a><br \/>\n Akintola University Teaching Hospital, gave a lecture on the subject.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4147\" src=\"http:\/\/adelekeuniversity.edu.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dep8.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"463\" height=\"232\">A training session for selected staff and students from various units and faculties of the university such as Students&#8217; Care Services, Safety and Security Unit, Spiritual Life division, etc. took place after the lecture.
